There is a new journal
Organic Letters
by ACS which is online accessible without charge up to the end of 1999. This journal will compete with the well known Tetrahedon Letters.

New (April 1998): The ACS journals (American Chemical Society) are no longer accessible for us (FU Berlin), except for tables of contents and selected "hot articles".

The journals offered by Springer (Link) are now accessible without validation by means of a password (from FU Berlin).

• Elektronische Zeitschriften

Neu (März 1998): Es kann jetzt auf Zeitschriften der Royal Society of Chemistry zugegriffen werden. Es muß ein Benutzername und Passwort verwendet werden.

Ab sofort ist ein Zugang zu online-Versionen von mehr als 100 Zeitschriften des Verlags Academic Press für Rechner der Domain fu-berlin.de freigeschaltet (Inhaltsverzeichnis IDEAL: Direct Login via IP address). Dieses Angebot ist vorerst bis Ende 1997 begrenzt. Wichtiger Hinweis: Die Volltexte (PDF-Format) sind nur mit acroread ab Version 3.01 lesbar!

Ferner stehen für Angehörige der FU ca. 140 Zeitschriften über Springer-Link (vorerst bis Ende 1998?) zur Verfügung.

Außerdem kann auf Zeitschriften des Institute of Physics zugegriffen werden. Zur Zeit muß hierfür allerdings der Proxy-Server der FU abgeschaltet werden.
Diese Zeitschriften bieten neben den Abstracts in HTML und den Volltexten im PDF- und Postscript-Format auch die Möglichkeit, mit dem HyperCite-System Literaturzitate weiterzuverfolgen (Abstracts aus der INSPEC-Datenbank, Preprints vom Preprint-Server des Los Alamos National Laboratory).

stehen 50 Zeitschriften des Verlags J. Wiley kostenlos zur Verfügung. Zur Benutzung muß man sich mit selbstgewähltem Benutzernamen und Password eintragen.

--> Formate: Die Volltexte werden (z.T. wahlweise) in verschiedenen Formaten angeboten: HTML (mit Hyperlinks, angenehm zum direkten Lesen online sowie zur schnellen Orientierung), PostScript oder PDF. Das PDF-Format bietet ein exaktes Abbild des gedruckten Artikels, es kann mit Hilfe des "Adobe Acrobat Reader" acroread (im SGI-ChemNet installiert) online gelesen sowie in hoher Qualität ausgedruckt werden.

[Besonders attraktiv ist das Angebot der ACS. Hier stehen Volltexte in den Formaten HTML und PDF zur Verfügung. Suchen sind in den Feldern Titel, Autor und Abstract sowie im Volltext möglich, einzelne Suchbegriffe können über logische Operatoren (AND, OR, NOT) verknüpft werden. Als Platzhalter können "?" oder "*" eingesetzt werden. Bug: Es ist anscheinend nicht möglich, nach Wörtern (z.B. Autorennamen) zu suchen, die einen Umlaut enthalten.]
