KURZE ZUSAMMENFASSUNGOur work focusses on the investigation of the energetics, the kinetics and the mechanism of elementary reactions in molecular ions (e.g. CH4+, C2H4+, C2H6+, HBr+, HCl+) and cluster ions (e.g. ArCO+, ArN2+, (CO)2+, (N2)2+). There particular attention is given to the role of rotation in these reactions, i.e. the variation of the dissociation energy Eo and the rate constant k with i.) the rotational temperature in a thermal experiment, or with ii.) the total angular momentum J (rotational angular momentum R) in a state selective experiment. These topics are investigated by various experimental techniques - partially developed in our group - employing synchrotron or laser radiation. The experiments are complemented by theoretical studies describing the reaction kinetics and the energy balance in the reactions based on high level ab initio calculations.
